Fostering Experiential Learning: Green Initiatives and Interactive Spaces at KV IOC Noonmati

At Kendriya Vidyalaya IOC Noonmati, we believe that education extends far beyond the traditional classroom. To foster holistic development, environmental consciousness, and skill-based education, we have integrated several innovative, hands-on initiatives into our campus environment.

    Building as Learning Aid (BALA)
Our school infrastructure has been creatively transformed into a dynamic educational tool through the BALA initiative. By utilizing everyday spaces—walls, corridors, pillars, and floors—as interactive canvases, we have created an environment that continuously stimulates student curiosity. From colorful mathematical grids on the floor to scientific diagrams and linguistic tools painted along the corridors, our physical space now actively participates in the teaching-learning process, making the entire campus a vibrant hub of discovery.

    Mushroom Farming
To provide practical exposure to biology and agriculture, we have successfully introduced a mushroom farming initiative on campus. This project allows students to step outside their textbooks and observe the fascinating life cycle of fungi firsthand. Students learn the science of substrate preparation, humidity control, and sustainable cultivation. Beyond academics, this hands-on project introduces early entrepreneurial concepts and highlights the importance of alternative, nutrient-dense food sources.

    Vermicompost Making
As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, the school operates an active vermicomposting unit. Organic waste generated within the school premises is systematically collected and, with the help of earthworms, recycled into nutrient-rich, eco-friendly compost. This initiative serves as a live laboratory for waste management and ecological conservation. It teaches students the value of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” principle, showing them exactly how organic matter returns to the earth to enrich the soil for our campus gardens.

These initiatives align seamlessly with the vision of experiential learning, ensuring that our students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also grow into responsible, environmentally aware, and practical-minded citizens.
